NEWS

The news in Houston is hot, hot, hot!

Right now I’m talking about the weather and not the world of children’s publishing. We’ve had too hot a summer starting in June, which is supposed to be cooler month than July and August. But alas, not this year.

Writing news develops as I plan to speak at the SCBWI Brazos Valley Conference on November 12. College Station, TX is the location for this all day event for children’s writers, no matter what writing genre. It HAS to be cooler by then!

Other speakers on the faculty include Kathi Appelt, an amazing and prolific Texas author, Brian Floca, gifted illustrator, Claudia Gabel, Senior Editor at Katherine Tegen Books, an imprint of HarperColllins, and Martha Mihalick, Greenwillow Books editor.

Join us for a getaway day of fun, information and writing wisdom.

I continue to be on the search for author school visits and hope you consider me, if you are a teacher, librarian or writing coach in an elementary school.

Book Signing Photos!

Promotion for two new picture books sure is fun. The best part is reading to the kids at a presentation. Talking and signing books afterwards is GREAT!

Promoting four picture books is GREAT!

My school visit at Moreno Elementary in Houston was fantastic. They made me feel like I was the most important person they had ever met. There were posters, flyers, excited students, and a fabulous introduction. The students were great listeners and very polite.

Foster Elementary in Kingwood, TX sure knows how to greet and treat an author. What a surprise to drive by and see my name on the marquee in front of the school.
